when i started blogging way back when

i was so excited

it was exciting

an amazing platform to put my voice and my work out there

even if it is only my mom that reads each and every post

my only wish is that i was more consistent

but having a blogging schedule filled with ‘engaging content’ and sticking to it

well that’s really not me

last year was full of a lot of small but significant changes for me

a conscious attempt to spend less time at the computer

spend less time online

trying to use my film camera more

for personal photos, if using my digital camera, only allowing light editing with VSCO and that’s it

make more family albums so we all get to enjoy the bazillion photos i take

trying to be more present

and a lot of the time being present for me is not having a camera at all

and mostly i’m okay with that

back to blogging

i’d like to update more

so hopefully i will

these are from our recent trip to perth

big family reunion

i cajoled and begged and insisted and told and bossed everyone into walking to this beautiful beach

for a big family photo as the sun was setting

i got one chance – one shot before the little kids ran off

and i left my sunglasses on – what a dork!

i’ve included a few of us trying to set up seventeen people

on a rock, all smiling, with a timer-set camera precariously balanced on a rucksack

but we got some beautiful shots

i hardly edited them, hard as that was

just VSCO Film Presets and a little cropping

the film presets is what makes them grainy and i love it

enjoy this big-long-overdue-over-wordy

blog post

i’ve known deb for a long time

we both grew up in a small city on the other side of the world

i was delighted when she made contact around two years ago to take

newborn photos

of her first baby girl

check those out over here

time flies

and now they are a family of four

baby sister was not as willing to pose quietly for long

she is only really happy in her daddy’s arms

who can blame her?

i had the most wonderful afternoon in their home

thank you for inviting me

this post is going to be kinda full

there is so much i want to tell you

show you

share with you

two years ago i met terry, renee & kirra

we met up at the beach – the venue for our photoshoot

and then i plucked up the courage

to ask them if they would be game to check out this field that i found, maybe we’d get a few more shots there

i’d never shot any clients there before, so they’d be my “field at sunset” guinea pigs

it was so beautiful (check it out here)

just as we were saying goodbye, after the shoot, renee quietly mentioned that kirra has cystic fibrosis

no big deal, not what defines them or her

just what they live with. every day

i drove home in tears that day wishing there was no such thing as CF

a year later i photographed an amazing

fundraiser organised by terry and renee for CF

again I walked around blinking back the tears

watching people dig deep to raise much needed funds

to help find a cure

“for the love of life”

i donated a photo shoot as one of the prizes for the day

imagine my joy when kirra’s grandpa won the prize!

fast forward a few months again

it took a while to find a time when kirra and her cousins would all be together

it was worth waiting for

Friday was 65 Roses Day

is there anything you can do to help support the fight to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis?

If you can please take a moment to view their website 65RosesDay

and here is Kirra’s facebook page – please like it and follow their journey
